God’s Rescue.
Freed but Vulnerable.
Passover: A Deeper Look

Don’t Confuse God’s Jealousy With Insecurity
Exodus's 7th, 8th, and 9th plagues are an even greater escalation in the conflict between God and Pharaoh. God is adamant about his people being freed, but this freedom is not without purpose. God desires their worship because he is a jealous God. But does this mean God suffers from some cosmic insecurity?
Set Apart & Protected by God
A River of Judgement & a Saviour of Grace
While in Exodus and through the first plague, God’s judgement flows through a river turned to blood. In Jesus, God’s grace flows through the blood of his son.
Sovereign Over The Human Heart
Exodus 6 ends with Moses telling God he is unfit and unqualified. God's reply to Moses is strikingly gracious - 'See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh.' Our world grants a qualification to those who work hard and earn it, whereas God freely qualifies the unworthy.
God Qualifies the Unworthy
Exodus 6 ends with Moses telling God he is unfit and unqualified. God's reply to Moses is strikingly gracious - 'See, I have made you like God to Pharaoh.' Our world grants a qualification to those who work hard and earn it, whereas God freely qualifies the unworthy.
Depression & God’s Grace
There’s no shortage of stigma around depression, including within the church. In Exodus 6:9, we read that God’s people couldn’t hear God’s voice because of their ‘broken spirit’ (depression) and ‘harsh slavery’ (oppression). God responds not with a rebuke but with kindness, faithfully continuing his plan to free his people. God promises the same for those who have placed their faith in Jesus. There is grace and mercy for those who are depressed.
What God Is Doing In Your Life
How would you describe what God is doing in your life? Maybe you feel like he is doing a lot, or wonder whether he is doing anything at all. But what if we were to ask God to describe what he is doing in the lives of his people? How would he answer that question? Exodus 6 contains that answer and gives us many reasons to be encouraged, excited, and grateful.
God’s Kindness in Confronting Sin
Exodus is full of surprises, but chapter 4 has a different type of surprise when God went to put Moses to death. Why would God confront Moses like this? Wasn’t Moses the one God had chosen to free his people from slavery? This story might catch us off guard, but it’s actually a story of immeasurable kindness and transforming grace.
