God’s generosity has given us Jesus.
Your generosity can help give Jesus to others.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
— 2 Corinthians 9:6-7
God is overwhelmingly generous, not stopping short of giving His Son, Jesus Christ.
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." - John 3:16
Those who have given their lives to Jesus and have received him by grace through faith have had their debt to God fully paid by Jesus.
This liberating news frees us to be generous, giving out of gratitude for what God has done for us rather than giving out of obligation. We don't give in an attempt to buy favour or special treatment from God because God cannot be bought or bribed. For those who have placed their faith in Jesus, he has fully paid for their sin and has eternally earned God’s favour for them.
Ultimately, the matter of giving is a matter of worship.
Jesus tells us that where our heart goes, our money follows. Wanting what is best for us, the Bible teaches us to use our finances - as in all other resources - to glorify God.
